Do It Go

Louise and Henry chose to vacation in Hong Kong last summer and while they were pretty familiar with the political and cultural aspects of Hong Kong they simply could not have been prepared for the incredible experiences and amazing performances they were about to encounter. The couple has enjoyed traveling four the past five years, when their youngest child left home. Prior to that, they did take family vacations when the years would allow, however having three teenagers in the house at the same time and with all of them being involved in various extra curricular activities, it became difficult to try and schedule even a simple weekend outing with all of them.

So, five years ago when Jill, the youngest of the three headed off to college, Henry and Louise were at a lose as to what to do with their time when a friend suggested that they finally take some of the trips they had always wanted to do. Hong Kong was high on the list, though it wasn’t until last summer that they were able to go. Louise chose the Hong Kong hotel in which they stayed, and Henry was in charge of picking the major entertainment options. Louise also had the privilege of choosing the primary restaurants they would eat at to really get a flavor for Hong Kong cuisine.

Both Henry and Louise did their research and felt prepared for their trip, though right away they were astonished by an event that took place their first evening there. How they could have overlooked the symphony of lights neither of them knew, but the audio and visual spectacle amazed their sensitivities yet only hinted at the great experiences that were to come. The following evening they attended a performance by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra after having enjoyed a beautiful stroll along the Avenue of Stars. The statue adorned promenade serves as tribute to Hong Kong cinema. They also took a ride on the famous Star Ferry, which carried them on a photographic cruise tour of Victoria Harbour. Hong Kong is definitely one of their favorite places from the countries and cities they have visited to this point.
