So, recently my friend Jill and I were kidding around. We had been up late studying and drank a lot of five star hotels Goa and ate a lot of sugar and by that point had really gotten a bit out of control with our nutty humor. Earlier in the evening we had talked about needing a vacation, which led to talking about all of the places we had been to in the past. She had been to Italy, Spain and France while I had only been to England and Scotland. About that time we decided we should take a vacation together this summer but we could not agree on a place. What we eventually decided to do was to spin her globe and wherever I stopped it with my finger we would go, even if it were our own back yard. As it turned out, my finger landed directly on Goa, India. Well, this certainly wasn’t either of our backyards, and also neither one of us was overly familiar with this state in India. However, we were committed, and immediately began making plans to stay in one of the five star hotels Goa next June.

I’ve never really believed in fate, though my friend is a huge fan of synchronicity, which I don’t really understand. However, after doing my initial research into the region, it really feels as though a trip to Goa may have been in my destiny all along. It turns out Goa is on the west coast of India and is full of some fabulous beaches. I am interested in the Hindu religion and the state also has some of the most intriguing and beautiful religious landmarks and architectural heritage in the country. It is also full of world heritage sites, and though Jill would be happy spending most of her time at the beach, I definitely want to visit many of these cultural icons. I also want to visit the Goa State Museum, which is located in the capital city of Panjim. It is mostly an archeological historical museum and is reported to have over 8,000 artifacts on display. This includes various cultural elements such as sculptures, paintings, bronze carvings and other aspects of Indian society. These are some of the things I’d like to do, though I will also enjoy spending quality time on the beaches with Jill.
