Oklahoma Sights and Sounds
Author: SamOklahoma, like many of America’s western states, is rather large. One could spend weeks driving around the state to get to the many sites that make this state unique. This state has a wonderful history of Cowboys and Indians. They like to show pride in their heritage with the many museums and festivals that are all over the state. Everywhere you go you will hear stories of some of the most interesting historical people and what they did while in Oklahoma. Learn about the movement of the many Indian tribes who were moved into the area.
The first week of August in Anadarko Oklahoma, locals and visitors are swept up into American Indian Exposition . This is a chance to see the many tribes of the state come together and show the people who they are and what they are about. Each tribe has their own colors and styles of dress which they wear during the many events held through out the day and night. There is a dance competition as well as Indian arts and crafts. There are parades and pageants and lots of good food.
Then there is the International Bluegrass Music Festival that is held in late September early October in Guthrie OK. What a great way to see the best of this musical style. There are musical acts from Switzerland, France, England and Belgium performing here with many American artists. Come see what is happening with Larry Gatlin, the Kruger Brothers and Bill Emerson who are only three of the many artists and bands that will be performing. It is a good thing you have a great pick of hotels oklahoma has built all over the state. Pick a route, your hotels along the way and then see what amazing sights and sounds you can catch along the way.
