Car tires are a major contributing factor to the overall comfort of the ride, the car’s stability and safety and in recent decades it has become a major aspect of the visual element of it. Technically speaking, they are associated with the vehicle’s suspension system. The suspension system is itself is pretty detailed though it can be most simply described as being composed of the features that are located under the body of the vehicle and are used to keep it elevated and traveling along the road. Generally speaking the suspension system has various linkages and includes the shock absorption system and the springs. Generally speaking, larger tires will provide a smoother ride and sometimes the quality of the tire can also impact the amount of shaking that any steering wheel will experience at greater rates of speed. Worn out tires or tires with bumps or that have become uneven can affect the alignment and in extreme cases the shock system of a car. For this reason, it is import to bring your vehicle in on a regular basis to have the tires looked at and rebalanced or rotated if necessary.

Going on road trips if fun, exciting, and relaxing.  If one lives in a big city, getting out on the open road, away from the hustle and bustle of a metropolis driven lifestyle, can be refreshing and rejuvenating.  However, this can be a somewhat annoying experience should your car break down in the middle of no where.  DIY auto repair is something that you must make yourself familiar with before heading out, especially if you tend to take long trips frequently.  DIY simply refers to ‘do it yourself‘.

Preparing for these road trips does not need to involve a lot of stress, just simple planning and the fun will soon ensue.  Car problems can sometimes be easily diagnosed by simply flipping through small engine repair manuals.  When hitting the road on a motorcycle, manuals are a great thing to bring along as well.  You should make sure and have your car tuned up before heading out.  They will check the filters, have them change the oil and check the brake fluid.  Also ask the mechanic to check all of the lights, headlights, turn signals and brake lights.

Tires can cause a lot of headaches when you are driving long distances.  Just simply checking the air pressure can make a big difference, as the pressure will affect the functioning of the tires, as well as the gas mileage you will get.  Of course make certain that your oil is fresh, and that it is full.  It is wise to carry a couple of extra pints in the trunk if you car may tend to burn oil, or if you have a small leak.  For those traveling in older model Volkswagen buses, I would advise a case of oil, just to be safe.  Aside from the preparatory arrangements, be sure to have the cell phone charged and a working flashlight, especially if you plan to be traveling during the night time hours.

Making certain that you are purchasing the right car tires for your vehicle is the first step towards the care and maintenance of those tires.  You will find either in the manual or located on the sticker placed by the car’s manufacturer on the driver side door, the information necessary for knowing the exact tire that has been recommended for use.

It is recommended that one checks the pressure on their tires once a month, however some people are diligent enough to check this each time they stop for gas.  This is quite a convenient practice as if you do notice that the tires are low, all gas stations have air pumps right there on the premises.  Along with the tire recommendations in the manual and on the sticker of the car door, you will also find information regarding the recommended tire pressure for your specific vehicle.

Alignment will also affect the wear of your tires, and if the car is out of alignment the tires will wear unevenly.  Personal driving habits will damage the tires, and it is good, not only for safety reasons, but for the life of the tire, that if you notice a tendency to speed or come to quick stops, you may be replacing your tires more often than you would prefer.

The Chrysler Building in New York City is one of its long standing landmarks and major building icons of this great city. It is commonly considered to be an art deco sky scrapper and is located on the east side of Manhattan, the most prominent borough of this great global city. When it was first constructed it was the tallest building in the world, standing at over 1,000 feet. It was finally surpassed with the construction of the Empire State Building, which is another famous landmark in New York. The Chrysler Building serves as a classic example of art deco architecture. The American Institute of Architects ranked it as number nine in 2007 on its list of America’s Favorite Architecture. It was designed by William Van Alen with the intention of housing the Chrysler Corporation. Construction of the building began on September 19, 1928 during a period of tremendous competition to build the world’s tallest building. Construction occurred at a near neck breaking speed and an average of four floors a week were added to it.

Alen designed the building based on the main feature, which is a jewel like crown at the top. This class crown is easily spotted and recognized across the town, and the building is usually included in one of the bus tours that guides passengers the city, describing the major attractions and landmarks as well as incorporating significant aspects of New York’s history and contemporary society. Completion of the building occurred in May 29, 1930 making it one of the fastest constructed buildings in history. When the building was first opened it featured a viewing gallery on its 71st floor. This attracted numerous people, though the gallery was closed in 1945.

Supercar is a term generally used for high-end sports cars, whose performance is superior to that of its contemporaries. It has been defined specifically as “a very expensive, fast or powerful car with a centrally located engine”, and stated in more general terms: “it must be very fast, with sporting handling to match”, “it should be sleek and eye-catching” and its price should be “one in a rarefied atmosphere of its own”, but the correct usage of the term is both subjective and disputed, especially amongst enthusiasts.

The use of the term can be dependent on the era; a vehicle that may have been considered a supercar in one decade may not be considered the same in another. The term supercar may refer to factory-built, street-legal race cars, with custom rims and tires and tire and wheel packages. Some vehicles referred to as supercars include features required for race cars such as roll cages. In recent years, the term “supercar” has been defined more specifically as any car that can attain at least 200 mph (320 km/h) and maintain reasonable control. High price only defines a car as an exotic, not necessarily a supercar.

The term was first noted by Car & Track in 1917 to describe an Alfa Romeo Monza. An advertisement for the Ensign Six, a 6.7 L (≈409 cu in) high-performance car similar to the Bentley Speed Six, appeared in The Times for 11 November 1920 with the phrase “If you are interested in a supercar, you cannot afford to ignore the claims of the Ensign 6.”

The Oxford English Dictionary also cites the use of the word in an advertisement for an unnamed car in The Motor dated 3 November 1920, “The Supreme development of the British super-car.” and defines the phrase as suggesting ‘a car superior to all others’ wheel packages.

The phrase did not become popular until much later and is often said to have originated with British motor journalist L. J. K. Setright writing about the Lamborghini Miura in CAR Magazine in the mid-1960s. The magazine claims to have “coined the phrase” although it was also used in May 1965 by the American magazine Car Life, in a test of the Pontiac GTO. By the 1970s the phrase was in regular use, if not precisely defined.
