It is surprising, with current DUI statistics, that there as many places that allow outdoor drinking as there are. Las Vegas, on the other hand, is not surprising. There are many things that are openly allowed there but frowned upon elsewhere.

Someday I would like to just hit the road with nothing more than the money in my pocket and a full tank of gas. We are always so caught up in getting to the destination (having a nice house, earning a certain amount of money, and obtaining the perfect job) that we often forget the journey. Even during hard times, there are many things to enjoy if we just take the time to slow down and look around.

Sam,

The study of state flags is an exercize in fascination and bewilderment. I see you have taken only a cursory glance at it, mentioning Mississippi and Georgia. Georgia's flag of 1956 - 2001 was 2/3rds Confederate, having been adopted as the ONLY state flag to honor it's war veterans by adding the square Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia. It was changed due to some pressure by fringe groups because, in thier eyes, the KKK had sporadically and unofficially used the rectangle Confederate naval jack - which makes no logical sense, but then the radical groups never do. The current Georgia Flag is based on the Battleflag of the 27th Georgia Regiment Confederate Infantry - making it 95% Confederate based. The stars represent the 13 original colonies.

The Mississippi state flag is more a tribute to the 13 original colonies, as - just like Georgia copied - the old Confederate Veterans designated the stars as such back in 1894. Since both Georgia and Mississippi demote the stars represent the 13 colonies, neither flag can be considered Confederate.

If you are looking for actual Confederate state flag, then those of South Carolina and Virginia qualify - both were made after secession from the Union.

More surprising state flags with heavy Confederate ties are North Carolina (just the bottom date and colors have been changed from Confederate original) Alabama and Florida (same design just Fla adds state seal) Texas (flag made famous by Hood's Texans) Missouri (uses Confederate Missouri coat of arms) Oklahoma - seal is Osage Tribe who were Confederates and blue for Choctaw Brigade CSA battleflag,Arkansas is an inverted Confederate battleflag, and Bill Clinton signed legislation designating the star above ARKANSAS a memorial to the Confederacy, and Maryland (red and white Botany Cross is the symbol that Maryland Confederates used on thier uniforms)

Other interesting facts on state flags is the one for California is historically incorrect. the man who proposed it wanted it to depict a "PEAR" but the artist misunderstood and madee a "BEAR" and New Hampshire's flag has a ship that was used AGAINST Americans during the Revolutionary War

An important aspect is references, you have to make sure yours are good. Never use anyone assuming they will give you a good reference; a suprising number of references come back lukewarm or negative, and the potenial employee has no idea. Make sure your references communicate what they would say about you, and have your references check by a company like Allison & Taylor if you're questioning what they say about you.

While I have never needed a map while driving around Florida, I know my aunt, who lives in Florida now, still needs to use hers every time she goes out. In some ways cities like Orlando are really intuitive, and in other ways they are hard to navigate. I can see why you would feel that a map is a necessity for newcomers.
