While in Sydney there are some attractions you will want to see and activities you will want to partake in. First is the Opera House, one of the most iconic buildings in the world, the Sydney Opera House is breathtaking at night and offers some of the best performances in the entire world. You will definitely want to see a performance and many times you can also get a tour of the Opera House as well.

A trip to the aquarium is an absolute must. The Sydney Aquarium offers an unbelievable collection of sea life that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The aquarium also offers a glass bottom boat tour that glides over the Great Barrier Reef, where you can see all the amazing sea life interact in their natural habitat.

If you are in the mood for a beach day, Bondi Beach is the most popular beach in Sydney. With stretches of gorgeous white sand, you can lay out in the sun or play in the water. If you are feeling adventurous then you will want to check out BridgeClimb which allows you to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The BridgeClimb is only for the daring as you ascend 134 meters to the top of the arches. Once you reach the top there is an unreal view of all of Sydney as well as the ocean.

Sydney has a little something for everyone who visits. So instead of hitting the same Caribbean islands you do every year, branch out and go see Australia.

Located on the east side of Sydney’s business district walkers will find a large rectangular shaped Hyde Park. Hyde Park is bordered by a few famous streets and buildings. St James Road and Prince Albert Road by Liverpool Street. College street is on the north side and then Elizabeth Street is found on the west side. Some notable buildings are the David Jones Limited main store and the Downing Center on the south side of the park. Sydney Grammar School, St. Mary’s Cathedral and the Australian Museum is on the east side. To the north of the park you will see the Hyde Park Barracks, St James Church, Sydney Hospital and the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

There have been so many functions held in this park dating back to the late 1700 and early 1800′s. In the 1820s the park became the home of the first large scale water source system. Busby’s Bore was built to supply fresh water from the near by swamps, known as the Lachlan Swamps, to the city. Of course were there is water there is activity. The park grew to be the sports area for horse racing, quoits, hurling, cricket and rugby. The park also became grounds for the military to train and practice drills. You might be able to imagine the problems that happened when the people showed up with their dogs, cattle, sheep and goats to roam.

There are some need to mention monuments through out the park. Let’s start with the majestic display of the Archibald Fountain built in honor of Australia’s part in WWI with France. Then there is the ANZAC War Memorial located behind the tranquil Lake of Reflections also known as the Pool of Remembrance. This is also the entrance to the local underground railway station, St. James. There is some middle east inspired monuments here in Hyde Park. the Independent Order of Odd Fellows is dedicated to the fallen Sydneysiders of the Great War. So book a room at one of the many five star hotels. Sydney as many to choose from and then take a walk around Hyde Park.

Many tourists find that they can fund their adventures by finding work in the cities or regions that they would like to explore. In Sydney, Australia this is a viable option. And as in many cities throughout the world, employers in Sydney are bound by the law to not practice any form of discrimination based on religion, physical appearance or their backgrounds. Some specialities such as engineers or those working in the medical field will need certification, as the country has standards set that may requires further training when it comes to construction or the practice of medicine. Employment in sales,business, and marketing also may require additional certification, as well as a well developed grasp and accent in the English language. However, it is really not as tough as it may sound to find employment in Sydney should one wish to do so.

The largest city in Australia is Sydney, and many students move to attend the colleges and universities. Many spend time in the city on their back pack journeys, and many come from other cities in Australia and throughout the world, to look for migrant work. In the city there are many jobs in bars, in offices and in restaurants. Sydney employers not only hire migrants frequently, but in some cases thoroughly hire those on the travel, for temporary work opportunities.

Many find quick and easy work in the taxi cab industry, however a valid driver’s licence is obviously required and this may not be a sensible option, for those visiting the city for the first few times, as the job requires extensive knowledge of the city, the suburbs and the local attractions. In all, working and spending time in a foreign city is a valuable and incredible experience. One that lends itself to a greater knowledge of culture, new friends, and an experience that is just all around more rich and fulfilling.

This past summer season in Canberra, provided wine makers with a few scares, as far as their grapes were concerned. Canberra is becoming quite a player on the scene of world wide wine, however the heatwaves of the summer past post a threat to the harvest in the fields throughout the country. It was so hot during their summer, that the schools were closing down do to lack of proper air conditioning facilities. And many of the most prestigious companies did loose grapes, reports from the vineyards were that some of them experienced losses of up to eighty percent of their entire crops, which adds up to a more than one hundred million dollar loss for the combined vineyards in the state. However, one Canberra wine maker stated that it was just thesefluctuations in the weather, just these kinds of challenges that make the life of growing grapes exciting. Elements change the flavors in the wines, and sometimes those flavors appear in the strangest of ways, such as a certain breeze blowing all summer that infuses the flavors of the lavender or roses growing near by.

The growers and makers in Canberra were lucky, and produced a crop of five thousand tons. A record for the region, and the only region that actually increased production from the previous year. And many of the region’s wineries that were not so lucky throughout the heat waves and the thunderstorms, have looked to the region in Canberra to replenish the stock that they themselves lost. That said, this winter is one of the best times to travel to Canberra to taste the wines, and celebrate. The Fireside Festival is underway and will continue through August with entertainment, incredible food, bonfires and of course, the wines of Canberra. Then for two days in November, the 7 and the 8, it is all about Wine, Roses and All that Jazz. Live jazz in the vineyards, accompanied by food and wine. The winter is a great time in the vineyards of Canberra.
