Phuket is the perfect vacation setting, as an island in the southwestern part of Thailand, offering an amazing array of beaches that are sure to put sparks of life into any tired soul.  It’s one of the most famous spots in the world for exotic island life, and offers a pace that is very refreshing for anyone who’s been putting in too many hours and trying to keep up.  Relaxation is the rule of the day, and when you’re staying in Phuket, beach resorts can double the pleasure here.  Taking the best of the island’s carefree rhythms and bringing them into the lodgings, our beach resorts offer a splendid combination of sophisticated taste and old world charm.  There is a fantastic sense of calm here that’s available to everyone.

You’ll enjoy how the moments pass by, and you’ll like how your own rhythms start to slow and adjust the rhythm of Phuket.   It has a very strong heartbeat, no doubt about it, but it’s also on a very different sense of time.  This is one of the most exciting things about the island, actually, and you’ll see why when you start to come back to your senses and see the lovely things that Phuket has to offer.  Thailand has some exciting music these days, and they’re starting to enter into the international arena with their evocative sounds.  There is also a growing electronic circuit here, and at the center of this new evolution is DJ Eddy.

He’s been relatively unknown until the past couple of years, when he won the competition for the best Phuket DJ, and there’s some very bright stars in his horizons.  His combination of live performance and electronic manipulations make him a club favorite, and an exciting force to watch in person.  He’s been teaming up lately with another local, D(r)eadmongey to make a new sound sensation called Sarkistik Boyz, playing electro and house tech. This will certainly quench your thirst for some local electronic music that will keep you dancing well into the Phuket nights.

Thailand has had a long and an extensive history, that has culminated in a country filled with not only native Thais, but with immigrants as well.  The diversity of the cultures are witnessed in the food, in the talent of the painters, writers, musicians, architects and dancer.  The many artists and artisans indigenous to Thailand, combined with work of the immigrants, has created on of the most visually stunning locations in the world.  In most cities and in most structures, delicate care is taken with design and composition elements, such as in the Phuket best hotels. Much of the influence comes from Laos, Persia, India and China.  After so many years, the physique and physical characteristics of what it means to be Thai, is varied, with not one aspect being ‘typical’.  Thais, similar to the people of the United States, come in all shapes, sizes and skin tone.  Most are strongly connected to the land through agriculture, and in different degrees, are influenced by the ceremonies and rituals and festivals that make this country such an incredible place to visit.

The predominant form of religion in Thailand is Theravada Buddhism. In fact more than ninety percent of the population is Buddhist and this has a huge impact on the daily lives and the lifestyles of this country.   The tallest Buddhist sculpture in the world, a monument to Emperor Asoka, is in Nakhon Pathom.  Nakhon Pathom is the site wherein Buddhism was first introduced during the Third Century BC.  Emperor Asoka was a missionary from India, who traveled to Thailand with the purpose of spreading the Buddhist Religion.  This religion encompasses the ideas of morality and ethics for all beings, cohesion of cultures, and places a strong emphasis on the artistic realm of life.  The temples have inspired those to creation of artwork, and in most families there is at least one person who is an artist, and at least one male family member that has studied in the monasteries.  And while most Thais are Buddhist, one aspect of the faith is religious tolerance, thus providing the immigrants from Hindu, Christian, Sikhs and Muslims the freedom to exist together, in a peaceful and respectful home.

The Wildlife Sanctuary and the National Parks are just one of the many aspects of the island of Phuket that attracts lovers of nature and tourists from around the globe.  Most of the major and central districts of the city are filled with an assortment of fauna and flora that not many parks and sanctuaries of the world have managed to collect.  Two of the most visited centers on the island, both close to the five star hotels Phuket offers for accommodations and services are the Gibbon Primate Rehabilitation Center, and the Insectarium and Butterfly Garden.

The rehabilitation center was built in 1990, and focuses on saving the wild monkeys from extinction.  This division conducts research on how to best protect wild animals, that are now living in the major metropolitan areas on the island.  Another focus of the team of researchers is the re-introduction of the Gibbons that were bought for pets and domesticated but are not longer wanted, back into their natural world and habitat.  The center is filled with gardens and parks as well, and is a ‘fun’ experience, but an educational experience as well.

The Insectarium and Butterfly Garden is one of the most visited of its kind in all the world.  This too, is a conservation site, that is one of the most splashy and colorful spots on the island.  Most upon entering, are amazed at just how many colors there are out there in the natural world.  This is an educational trip as well, as in the Insectarium, the various species of plants are shown to influence the cycles of life of the various insects, all right in front of your eyes.  The backdrop for these two gardens is the lush tropical rain-forests along the pristine beaches of Phuket.   The native birds will chirp and the waterfalls will fall, and the entire experience is breathtaking and mind-blowing.
